hi there
problem is my old mans 1.2 16v active 5door 03 plate

when you drive the car it feels fine, corners well and evrything, until you hit either a grid or a slight bump in the road and it feels like youve hit a brick or something
you get a loud thud as though its a full car of people, to me the car sounds excessively heavy on the back
it does have 17" rims but it hasnt felt like this before
had a garage check the shockers n they sed the shockers are fine

iv read on here about the rear bushes and subframe having problems maybe something to do with this?

any ideas on what this might be or anyone with similar problems? :worship:

If it's definately coming from the back i'd go with the suspension bushes being worn, mine sounded similar to what you have described when they went.

cheers for the reply mate

was thinkin the cars hardly used for long distance journeys and doesnt carry much weight that often so would these have gone already?
if they have gone how much we lookin at for a garage to change them

cheers again(y)

LOL, the parts are about £40 including new bolts and washers from Fiat dealer.
I had mine done at my dealer for £365 labour only but inc VAT. so nearly £400 for the whole job. Mine had covered 120,000 though as I drive a lot for work.

The reason i had the dealer do it is that my independant garage had a look and wern't 100% sure they'd be able to fit the bushes due to the design and that they are oil filled, I didn't want to take the risk but either way it's a 4-5 hour job.

Some have done it themselves but I didn't fancy it and i'm quite competant with most things.
