anyone in the staffs area wanna help me change my heater motor. mine has stopped working and i am going to order a new motor (£155 from fiat) and also a new control vaine flap (£30ish) just need someone to help fit as im on a tight buget

Please send me your old motor. I would like to see if I can fix one. Mine currently works on low speeds only. You also need to buy a wiring adapter (50 pounds) if you have an earlier stilo as the new fans are different.

Fan change is easy. Just need some cable ties to tie the clutch pedal down and disconnect the steering column at the bottom for access. Use a small 5mm socket for the 3 bolts on the fan and maybe to be double jointed in your left arm to get it out.

Control vane flap is a very big job. The whole dashboard has to come out.

Hi john,
i have selespeed so no clutch pedal.
I was gonna take the motor out and see if my dad could fix it (although your more than welcome to take it out and have a look and if you can fix it im sure you will be compensated..)

RE the control vane flap i had a guy from fiat look at my car when i got it (private job) as the left centre flap was stuck on hot and he accessed it from the footwell and said the control flap was broke/dodgey however he manually adjusted it so it was stuck on cold (as that was more confortable than full hot) he said it was pretty easy to change almost plug n play easy.. ????

My car is a 02 abarth if i was to get a replacement motor from fiat i called up with my chasis number as i think it was about £155 for a new one which was correct part for my year of car

If so, I think there are pretty many members here that would like to know the procedure - including me. Which one is it, and how the hell to you access it for replacing???

Regards, Morten.

I took my the front of my dash apart (stereo, climate control panel, side panels) as much as I could without removing everything and I found the large aluminum support behind the dash was in the way of accessing the sides of the heater box. Please could you post how to get at / change this diverter as a lot of us have the same problem.

Sorry but you are too far away for me to come to take the fan out. I was meaning that if you changed the fan and had the old one, instead of throwing it away, you could post it to me.

For an 02 car, you will need the cable adapter as well (according to my local dealer anyway) which is another 50 pounds as the fan has been updated and old ones are not available any more. If you have found different and it works, please post the part number that the dealer ordered so others can save some money.

Thanks.

i think the part number for motor was 77363244
and for the mixer actuator (as my centre fan is stuck on cold) 46723328

john where are you based? Luton? If so i have family in Biggleswade if you wanted to have a go at removing one weekend?

i have got my replacement motor and control vane now. if anyone who knows how to change them is willing to help willingto help that would be great! i am based in staffordshire (or occasinally bedfordshire)

i also have a pic of the parts i have got but im not sure how to upload on the site? if anyone can tell me so you can take a look at what ive got that would be great

Have you sorted this out yet ?
it's fairly easy to change just fiddly.

Cheers

Mike

fan motor change - anyone done it? interested?

has anyone here ever changed the motor / control vane flaps in their stilo?
mine have packed up for about 2 months now so no air blowing at all. ive got some replacements parts from a breakers (motor / control module) but i really need someone who can change the parts over as its all tucked away behind the centre console footwell.... obviouslly willing to pay for their time..

im based in staffordshire.

mike, no not changed the motor as of yet. The replacement motor i got was one from a breakers (from teh same year of car) so i assume i will not need a wiring adaptor. ?
