Need to replace the driver's seat belt on my 2002 Five door stilo to pass the MOT. Went to my local dealer and he said that the price for one seat belt is TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY POUNDS!!!!! Plus 40 quid to fit it. TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY POUNDS???? I said, totally aghast. He said it was scandalous too, but Fiat set the prices, blah, blah..... try a motor factors etc.

Of course he just said that to get me off his case 'cos he must know that when you try that you find it is a main dealer part only. The parts people I spoke to said that they have universal belts for forty quid that fit '98% of cars'...... but the Stilo is in the 2% they won't fit. The **** joke is compounded by the fact that there are different belts for the 3 door and 5 door model. Trying to find a 2nd hand one could take **** months. So I am going to have to pay those robbing cnuts nearly 300 quid just to replace a **** seat belt!

Fiat do this all the time. Make parts that are incompatible with generic parts then charge what the **** they like 'cos they have created a monopoly. There is absolutely no relationship between the manufacurer's cost of making a seat belt and the price they charge for it. In other words it is an utter, complete and total RIP OFF.

Have you tried a scrap yard?

Yes. I have spent two hours on the internet and phone trying to locate one, but there isn't one in the whole of the UK as far as I can tell. Those who have had them tell me they go very quickly. When I told some of the scrappers how much Fiat charge they could see why!! Plus they agreed that the Fiat price is absolutely criminal.

And now they'll put their prices up...

Fiat part prices are cheap. Go and ask for the same part from just about any other manufacturer and it will be more expensive.

Cheap!!! That is more than a week's income for most people! It is criminal, regardless of what other manufacturers charge. To call it cheap is absolutely absurd, Unless you work for Fiat of course!

I never said that part was cheap. I simply said Fiat part prices are cheap in comparison with other manufacturers.

Well what is the point of you telling me that!!?? :bang: I need a SEAT BELT and the robbing **** want TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY POUNDS FOR IT!!! No Fiat part s are cheap. Every part I've ever bought has been VERY expensive relative to equal spec. pattern parts where available, and those that are not, like this are just outrageous. FACT.

Fiat Parts are cheap, your dealership must obviously not like you charging you so much for everything. Its not outrageous. They run a business at the end of the day. If you can charge essentially how ever much you want for parts and people have to pay it then you are going to. Yes this might not please the customer that much but if they dont have anywhere else to go then tough sh!t. Now stop moaning and stump up for it.

What utter b0llocks!!

At the end of the day Fiat arent creating the monopoly market, if no one chooses to make pattern parts for everything on the car its not their fault.

How is it? If your running a business and you can sell your product for £10 or £50 and the same amount of people are still going to buy it either way which one are you going to choose?

I have been VERY nice to those who deserve respect and thanks, but the Puntoprick is no help at all. Facietious, arrogant and stupid.
