Since getting my car back from Direct Line my rear windscreen wiper has a mind of its own, going off when it wants to and not being able to turn it off.

You can still turn it on and off as you want but usually about 20minutes into a journey its starts wiping on its own and you cant stop it

It didnt do it before it went to them, anyone any ideas to what they have done to my car and would it be them or fiat who needs to take a look at it?

as a follow up to this it now stops in various places on the screen when it does it.

Does anyone have any ideas to what is causing this?

Mine does the same, but I also have similar problems with the front wipers, which is rather more annoying

Sounds like a crossed connection or a short ... something is fooling your rear wiper into thinking the car is reversing with the front wipers on ... this is the only time that the rear wiper comes on automatically..

The anoying thing is the front ones dont have to be on for this to happen. It happens in the dry.

The photo below shows that whenit goes off when it feels like it it stops anywhere

oh and the car is still running when it took the picture

back to the repair shop then unfortunately .... just quickly check it isn't a loose connection first though ... most of the wiring is accessible behind the side pockets ... and the tailgate trim comes off easy enough

how does the tailgate trim come off ive taken the two screws out but cant seem to get the black plastic off.
