K&N panel filter...

K&N panel filters... ones that come pre oiled... direct replacement to OEM ones...

are they better than the standard paper one....??

wanting to splash out on a gsr and remap eventually... but as its due a service im thinking of fitting one at the same time as oil, filter and so on...

cheers

Re: K&N panel filter...

yea theyre better, if your just replacing the filter it will be a slight improvement, if your old one is bad then it will increase fuel economy and probably give you a slight bit of extra power, usually lik 3bhp with onli a filter replacement. but this will also increase your insurance, if you crash with it, its seen as an unlisted power enhancing modification and your insurance will be void

How can it increase economy and power?

Performance air filters flow air more freely and if you add more air into the induction pipe it will compensate by altering the fueling automatically ..this linked to careful driving [like what decks does  ] will improve the economy and performance although a panel filter will never be a better substitute for and out and out induction system (y)

with a 1.6 what power increase would you be looking at with a gsr kit and remap?? its it noticable??

cheers

The remap is not an potion for me, as I live outside the UK. But expect a much better torque - especially 3rd gear. It just goes and goes... remember to change into 4th when passing 130 km/h (80 mph) as 4th gear now will have lots of torque.

Re: K&N panel filter...

130Km on 3rd??? i guess you mean the 1.6, the 1.4 does 100 on third, then again it is 6 gears i guess.

Re: K&N air filter??

Recently fitted one to my 1.6 and it feels a bit smoother. Just make sure when you get under the car, don't have your face directly under the airbox because as soon as you open the lid, you'll get a facefull of crap!

Learn from my experience... ;)

Re: K&N air filter??

Go under the car, more or less directly under the battery, and you'll see the airbox housing. Its just got 2 clips whch you release and then you can slide the old filter out and replace it with the K&N. The K&N is a lot thinner so it slides in easily without any fuss.
