K&N Filter
Hi Guys (and Girls),
Today, a so called "K&N Expert" (he is really a dealer of filters) mounted a universal performance filter to my Stilo 1.6. I didn't pay anything, the filter was a gift from my friend, so I didn't ask questions, but I know, what kind of induction kits are available for my car. And this isn't one of them. The dealer doesn't had time and tools to get the original air intake system (I did it afterwards), so he fitted something that he could. That is not the problem at all, if the job is done well. But I am afraid, that this directly attached filter will suck in too much hot air, and not just raise fuel consumption, but will damage something. I can tell, when I check the filter after a drive (long or short), the filter is hot.
The positive side is, that it sounds really great at 3000rpm or higher (it takes a day to get used to it), and maybe there is a very little performance increase (but maybe it just seems because of the sound). I'll see if it affects the fuel consumption (it should be down).
I know the best way would be to return to dealer, and swap this filter for an "original" one for a Stilo, but I didn't want to disappoint my friend. So I am going to resolve the problem other way, like getting cold air to filter by pipe, or placing the filter somewhere else ...
If you guys have some ideas for help .... please post.
Thanks
