really strange one. everytime I brake I get rear bulb failure, then goes again when not braking. Strange thing is that the bulb isn't blown. Sure enough it doesn't light up. It's on a multiwagon paseengers side large light top of the cluster on the boot. Anyone know where the wiring goes I'm guess it's a loose wire or short.

Bulb-holder connections, had the same on my GPS number plate lamps over the weekend, I just cleaned the connections. (y)

i had the same prob with my stilo, would go away for a while then every now and again comes back.... i had to get the 'computer' re-set by a mate....

Almost certain to be a bad earth,a good way of checking is to turn on the lights/rear fogs/reverse lights get some one to tread on the brakes for good measure and then turn on the indicator on the offending side,if the other lights dim with the indicator then that would point to a bad earth either on the bulb holder itself - a quick cleanup with something like scotch-brite - clean off all the residue afterwards, the other problem area is the multi pin connector on the back of the light unit itself-look for signs of disclouration or overheating you can clean up all the male and female connectors with something like an ink rubber.I think that the earth lead is the black one but being an old duffer my memory is not what is was!

I'd agree with Ffoxy on this... I had the same problem with my Abarth and it was the bulb holder of the fog light.

The contact points corrode a bit over time and the resistance goes up to the point where the ecu thinks that the bulb has blown (infinite resistance). Score the contact points with a screwdriver blade and use a bit of contact cleaner and that should see you right (y)

I had a similar thing I just changed the bulb it said although it still worked and the warnings stopped coming.

i had the same problem, thought it was a loose connection coz the warning light would come on and go off when it felt like it but after closer inspection of the bulb it had actually gone so i'd check your bulb proper, could hardly tell that mine had gone.
