re: JTD K&N box filter

Can you people with the K&N replacement filter comment on what I've heard. Many say that replacing the stock filter with a K&N sport one will lead to raised noise of the engine (diesel engines in particular). That was the only thing that stopped me from putting one when I serviced the car first myself. What are your comments, did you notice changed sound of your diesel engines, any change in rattle and the work of the motor that will increase the noise from it, with the sport filter?
Maybe next time I'm changing the air filter I'll use K&N replacement if there is no such thing.

Thanks in advance for your answers

re: JTD K&N box filter

i dont remember it making any difference to the diesel clatter, cant think of any reason it should?it may well be slightly noisier as in induction/turbo noise, the sound of the air being sucked in, nothing like if you've ever used an exposed cone filter that roar/resonate,but might well be louder than paper element but certainly not offputting.

Not with a panel filter ..should be no different..

new stilo owner needs info on performance filters and lil more with pics

hi there, i have a stilo 115 jtd and thinking abt fitting a performance filter and is clueless on the matter.
i have read the other threads which gave an overview. ok the choices are as they suit my pocket, a k&N pannel or a carbon dynamic filter(cda).
which of these will be better on my diesel without causing any probs like warning lights and heating probs, secondly which gives a better sound and better perfomance. lastly which will be easier to install by me, looking at the fact i am no expert on the matter.

lastly i have come across someting called a Super Spiral Turbo Ventilator. are these worth putting on my car and will it have any negative results. heres some more info on the part, let me know wat you think? theres a pic attached as well.

Simota's high speed Super Spiral creats a vortex airflow to improve air and fuel mixture enhancing your engine's performance. It reduces the carbon accumlation in the engine and substantially increases the horsepower to your engine.

Super Spiral Turbo Ventilator blades are made of advanced precision bearing technology (running up to 30 000 RPM). Lightweight alluminium alloy design is not only anti-rust, but also has the ability to match your hight-revving engine. The blades have special angles to promote extra airflow to the inlet manifold and assist in providing better engine combustion. Experience strong torque during low to medium RPM ranges but also extreme horsepower at higher engine revolutions.

The upgraded fuel combustion can reduce carbon accumalation to your engine. Furthermore it is enviroment friendly and greatly increases performance efficiency..

Installation:

Location of installation:
Install the product between the air filter and the throttle body, into the middle of air inlet pipe. (propeller side face to the air filter)
Optimal Location: Install 10 to 30cm in front of the inlet throttle body. When the inlet pipe is curved, you can install Super Spiral into the middle of a dual bend pipe.

If the car is equipped with air flow sensors (AIF), install before or after the AIF with the same size. When there is a minor difference in size, you can wrap a few rounds of tape on the outer rim.

This product can be installed to gasoline and diesel cars, as long as there is the inlet pipe on the air inlet of the throttle.

I'd forget all about messing with the induction.

Far better to spend your money on 1st rate servicing - like for instance using the best oil you can buy, making sure all filters are clean and making sure your suspension is lubricated & protected with something like Waxyoil (keep an eye on those springs especially) (y)

to be honest i don't think my K&N panel filter added any additional power, no notticeable amount anyway. i made a guide on here on how to fit one to a JTD.
