I put my 1.4 Stilo Active Aircon in for MOT today and the garage told me it had failed on the nearside CV Joint as the boot has perished and lost its grease.
As it was a Saturday afternoon and their suppliers were closed they couldnt give me a price for them to do it themselves but they gave me a ball park figure of £200 fitted which I thought was expensive.
I have been trying to source a replacement onthe net, but I can't find one for a 1.4 - only a 1.2 or a 1.6.
Can anyone tell me which one to get?
Is there a way of telling if the CV joint actually needs replacing or if I can just replace the boot and pack it with grease?

Any help would be apperciated.

Cheers in advance.

First off why change the complete joint ..? is it clicking on lock..? the boot and in fact the whole joint is very probably the same one as used on the 1.2 ..goes and looks on eper again..:)

Edit..Eper shows this..

Part No..46307886..fits 1.4 & 1.6
and there is an alternative part No which fits the 1.2 & 1.6..46307889..so I guess its the 1.4/6 one for you buddy..if your going to do the whole job yourself you can always take the CV joint with you for comparison anyway..

Thanks for the info PNL.
Firstly you asked Why replace the whole joint? Can I buy individual components?
Yes its clicking on lock. Does that indicate that its gone?

Back in the days of the Mk1 mini you could indeed buy individual components to rebuild the joint ..nowadays tho it more convenient to just buy and fit a new manufactured joint complete with boot fitted..

I was simply trying to ascertain if the joint has gone and that's why i asked you if its clicking..it is clicking so its a goner..:( other wise I was going to say if its the boot that's damaged then just repack the joint and fit a new boot..

Looks as though fiat are using a common CV joint in the 1.2 right through to the 1.6 ..they do use a common hub/disc and caliper so it makes sense i suppose to use a common CV joint as well..(y)
