Technical ASR and ESP failed - warnings

Technical ASR and ESP failed - warnings

Sorry guys, having just re-read my post, it can all be read more than one way, so just wanted to clarify on the errors:

1) I don't have ABS error on dash, never have done
2) I have ASR then ESP error together randomly throughout some journeys

Are we still saying I need to adjust the brake light switch plunger?

On the other point, all tyres are same size and speed rating, and inflated nicely. Only odd thing is the moaning back left brake while reversing.

Cheers.

Rear nearside brakes tend to rust up in the slides for the pads. (This would cause rubbing sound if binding)This is not a Fiat service item to remove and regrease. It should be! - so I have mine done every service.
The warning lights I experience once in a while usually when cold and damp - this has occurred for years and Ive assumed poor contacts at the wheel end somewhere, but cant say if the brake binding is connected .

Re: ASR & ESP warning fault

I have just changed the front wheel hub and bearing in my 1.2 stilo 3dr and the asr and abs light and warnings have come on? any way to resolve this? might of damaged a sensor or pulled it out maybe?not sure

thanks

Re: ASR & ESP warning fault

not to doubt you but i ordered bearing and hub from fiat dealer via vin number and had the machine pressed so no worries there maybe just need to be reset
?

Re: ASR & ESP warning fault

yeah :)

I took the abs sensor off to fit the bearing and then bolted back on so that obviously has something to do with that. nit sure about the asr

what could be causing the asr come on taking into account recent work done?

Re: ASR & ESP warning fault

ABS & ASR errors have the same common cause (you can't lose ABS and still have ASR)

Simply means the on-board systems can't detect a wheel rotating - which means you still don't know if the fault is with the bearing or the sensor :(

You could do some simple electrical checks on the sensor. Simply disconnect the sensor at the wheel arch and check the resistance of the sensor to see if it is very low (good) or very high resistance (bad-broken)

Then comes the more exciting stuff to set up, if you can securely back probe the ABS unit M50 wheel connections then you can see what output is coming from the wheel sensor when the wheel is rotating. Voltage should oscillate proportional to wheel speed. If the voltage is flat line then the sensor isn't detecting any input from the wheel bearing

Or the bearing the wrong way around. There are some magnetic tools that define the correct side of the bearing to correspondend with the ABS ring. I've never used it though...

need help asap!

well my nct is in 2 hours for my fiat stilo 02 1.2 and its just back from the garage thats told me they have broken off the abs sensor on the front wheel, the thin plate thats bolted on.

now from what ive been reading the car wont pass nct(mot) with abs light on.

Is there any quick fix for the problem just to get it through?

thanks:bang:

Hello everyone,

I have a fiat stilo station wagon 16v 2004 manual. There is a problem with my car, the Asr and esp are on and also the engine light, the car dose not accelerate anymore nor dose it go past the speed of 80/kmh.

I took it to a shop and they ran a scan, the scan read a failure in the throttle body and camshaft sensor! I replaced both parts, however the problem was still there! it was a cold night and when i was trying to turn it on, I forgot to place my foot on the clutch while it was in gear one! So i dont know if thAt played a factor.

Anyways I dont know what to do, should I try to fix it and waist more money or buy a new car?

Buy MES, cables and diagnose it yourself, clear codes, set the ecu to re-learn after changing sensors and stuff and see if that helps
