Hey,

Well i've had a shocking day.

a) Things went wrong at work

b) My little chip in my windscreen from Monday (not driven since then) has turned into a massive crack

c) I got done for speeding in the M40 roadworks (I dont expect any sympathy, but maybe a clarification - I got done doing 57 in a 50 - dont you get 10% + 2mph?)

d) I shut my boot on my bag handle, which cracked the plastic shroud next to the lock (what is this bit called?!) http://www.a1plymouthcarhire.com/images/fiat%20stilo%20boot%20space.jpg its the bit at the bottom wheres theres a tiny hinged bit of plastic in the middle, and i guess the bit you rest stuff on as you slide it in the boot! (sorry for a less accurate description!)





e) When Im idling, in neutral, I get a small knocking noise that I can only hear from the inside of the car, yet when I either rev, or depress the clutch, it goes away.

Is this the release bearing on its way out, or a gearbox bearing?


Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.....

Well, it was kind of hard to beat this one. Didn't you see it coming when you got up that morning? A weird feeling that you really should be staying in bed?

Got a price from Fiat for the boot trim - £26ish, and my windscreen is being done on Monday, £75, and i'm over the speeding.

So just the clutch/gearbox noise to figure out!

Can I buy a release bearing separately from a clutch?
