Driving into work this morning , just pulled away from lights and lost all power

Tried restarting engine but nothing , electrics on but engine dead, anyway got the aa out , who were great , the guy who cam was a big stilo fan and knew them inside out but sadly confirmed that the belt has snapped.

So its sat with fiat in warrington right now till tuesday when they can check the damage.

So im expecting a hefty bill for this !! Its just passed 65k , 53 plate , so was ready to get the belt done on next service in july !!! i am so gutted !!

lucky got a panda too , so im speeding round in that for a bit now

Anyone had their belt go recently ? any idea of cost as im pretty sure there will be damage , although was only goin about 15-20 mph ?

:bang:

bit harsh Dave !! lol , this isnt the result of me not listening to you :yum:

Has been on my mind since i hit 60k a couple of month back though , so it is my blame that i didnt get it done as should as my mind told be to get it sorted ! :bang:

never mind tho eh ! done now !

think if it pushed passed £800 i think ill just leave it though.

I had mine changed at 59k. Although i had only just bought it then and had it done as soon as i got it home :D. Hope the car is ok man.

Unfortunately people fall into the same trap time and time again ..and Dave is correct in what he is saying ..dont go by whats in the book cos its a load of twaddle..sorry to see this happen on your car mate they really wont know whats what until they lift the lid on her [cylinder head to you that aint that technical]..:(

Lot to be said for the panda you have being a non interference engine..:slayer:

All the stilo range are interference..they are super fire engines 16 valvers..not inc the jtd here as it an 8v but still an interference never the less..

if i had mine changed at 58k, not my choice previous owner didnt change it although she said it was only a run around. Anway, when should i look at changing it again?

This is from our new site but I will put it here as well..we are all buddies after all..:)

Bad luck :(

Point here though is, never mind the mileage, you've passed the interval period of 5 years.

Even on standard servicing it should have been changed sometime last year

My 1.8 came from the Warrington area, Caledoneon Serviced it
and it was taken back there when the belt snapped. They didn't
repair it, repaired by mobile mechanic, head skimmed, 16 new valves,
cam belt kit, gaskets ect. £900 if you need the contact details
pm me.

John
