Hi all,

Recently I bought yellow fiat stilo as a replacement for my older brava. it's 03 jtd 80 3dr, but it has quite high millage on clock - 113K miles, but as there is only few of these cars around in Ireland there is not much of choice. The millage was done by commuting on motorway so i thought it can't be that bad as it looks like. And so far it drives fine. I've read about dodgy gearboxes but mine is smooth like on new VW. The car comes with rear diskbrakes and 17" alloys. It looks great. As an old car it has got some niggles to be fixed and I'm looking for some reliable garage around Dublin area. If anyone knows something like that I'll be glad to be advised.
There might be even a lot of thinks which I should be able to fix at home.

I can hear turbo whistling when I'm hard on gas, but not very loud. I can't hear it when the stereo is on. I don't know if it could be a sign of problem. I didn't notice any excessive smoke. I can see some smoke in the night in the light of other cars going behind but i can't see anything during the day.

The suspension is quite rolly, but I've read that this is something which comes with stilo. Mine is probably even a little bit worn out. I would like to replace it for something stiffer but not lowering.

the rest is just small niggles (some of them I haven't noticed at the inspection)- sunroof is getting jammed, cigarette lighter not working and headlight adjustment seems to be not working as well.

at that age and mileage, definately make sure the cambelt has been changed, this is a must with the JTD.

as far I know cambelt has been changed 20K ago, but better do more often than late.

thanks for replies. Has anyone an idea about suspension? I don;t really want to lower the car, but definitely stiffer. It doesn't roll in corners that much but it's terrible over bumps, railway crossings, ramps etc.
