hi i have been asked to change a mates cam belt, this went really well but i have two problems now firstly i did not work out how to un tension the air con belt on his 1.6 stilo 16v (which was a little anoyning untill i noticed that the pipe that comes out of the pump and goes down towards the drivers side and connects to a block by the rad was SNAPPED OFF! so i just undid the air con pump and removed the belt that way, however i now have two problems firstly the local fiat dealer parts department cant tell me which pipe it is, the one they had on the shelf had round ends on it whilst the pipe hes got has almost square ends, they would not order the other pipes they had listed in unless i paid for them first the micro fich does not show the parts clearly!
so the questions are A) how do i retention the new belt which is now very slack (same length as old belt) and B does any one know what the part number for this rubber and aluminum pipe is?
thanks alot for any help this is driving me to distraction.

Sounds like you've got the wrong belt. It's a one time fit stretchy belt on a 1.6 engine and should go straight on with some persuasion

No idea what the part no is but it'll be this pipe that's broken most likely. It wasn't made quite long enough and couldn't take the strain of the engine/ suspension movement. New ones have a longer flexi section

ah ok that makes sense about the belt, so this will be a main dealer only item then i would guess?

the breaking of the pipe now makes sense, i have since changed the rear engine mount and exhaust because the mount was totalled! so i oulw guess the pipe broke when the mounted started to fail. can i use the pictures to take in to the dealer?

Yes. How did you get the replacement air con belt you have now if not from a dealer? Shop4 parts?

Now you did replace the cambelt tensioner and idlers as a full kit didn't you? Otherwise your mate won't be thanking you later
