Styling Back To Black

I watched an old version of Deals on Wheels a few weeks back and they had a professional car valeter on and he used Peanut Butter (yes - not a joke) to restore the black of the trim.
It worked really well and looked brand new again - i couldn't believe it.
Apparently there is something in the Peanut Butter that restores the trim - strange!

He just put a small amount of the patse on a cloth and rubbed it in and buffed it off - a cheap solution so must be worth a try!

Liquid tyre shine works well and is more water repellant, it seems to last much longer than the aerosol type, I just use the Halfords own in the blue bottle. Also for a quick topup WD40 looks good for a while.

Also im not sure if you can get it anymore because I rescued it out of grandparents garage, it was back when he had an Alfa 155 and the tops of the bumpers used to fade really badly, its a liquid wax, very black and gloopy and you have to be really careful not to get it on the paint, but it lasts ageeees, I will find the name for you because it works very well, it was made by Turtle Wax though.

Hey

Looking to make my bump strips and mud flaps blacker as they have gone a grey colour now.

does this stuff worth it? Or is there a better version?

Thank you
fred

na mate dont use that it isnt permanent. I use this gear called vinyl made by cartec and i applied it once and it hasnt worn off in over 3 months even with washing the car regulary. (y) im thinking you wuld have to apply it maybe 2-3 times a year. i can get discount for you as well as I know the garage who sells it boss.

Just don't get Carplan's Original Black. It's possibly the worst car cleaning product I've ever bought. It basically doesn't do the job it's meant to. It kind of gets the black plastic clean, but then makes everything surrounding it greasy as hell and the actual blackness it brings is incredibly patchy.

The Simoniz stuff mentioned in the OP was the stuff I had before and it was great. You could spray it on and spread it with a cloth to sort of work it in. Still kind of greasy, but did the job much better. Didn't last for long though.
