hi all

bought a new italian leather gear gaiter from fiat website. also bought a new sporting gear knob.

anyone advise how i remove the standard gear knob? seems to be no way of unscrewing or removing it.

Please help

whats different about the know? shorter?
im after a shorter knob at the moment, mines too long






but seriously.. i am after a shorter gear stick

i would also like a new leather gear stick and gater set, but im not too confident of cutting my knob off incase i do it wrong.

Sounds painful lol

i enquired about a new gaitor on my stilo as the original had torn. was about £25 and would be easy to fit (if your confident enought to dismantle the plastic around it!)

i had to saw, hack, burn, hammer my knob off, angle grinder helped a lot.

hard as hell

Gaiter is easy enough and I had to do that very early on with mine as fumes were coming in. A zip up the side so no need to remove the gearknob


Gear knob removal though needs a strong puller like this but i'm sure you could make up something similar

I had to do a simular thing, then had to cut all the rubber of my old one and make the metal sleave fit in my new gear knob

knob inuendo. cannot be beaten

Had been wanting to change mine, but it's obvously the lift up reverse of the 1.2, so is more awkward than some. I think the 1.6 is perhaps easier to replace (perhaps). Was so easy on the old Punto as well

the 1.2 and 1.6 lift up mechanisms are identical.
