I had a hose blow off my 1.6 the other day. It was one from the T section in front of the sump. I put the hose back on and filled her up with water.

Now I notice the heater isn't really doing much. Warm rather than hot. And also every now and then I'm getting the gurgling and spewing of water in the expansion tank.

My paranoia has led me to check the oil but there is no sign of discolouration and no sign of mayo type stuff in the expansion tank.

So, does it sound like airlock:bang:, or head gasket:eek::bang::bang::bang:

Your thoughts please.

Cheers

There are at least two bleed valves (one on the radiator and one on the heater hoses AIRC) that you need to open when re-filling the sytem, otherwise you will indeed get an air lock.

Track the smaller diameter water hoses and you'll find a valve similar to the one you found on the radiator towards the rear of the engine compartment. You may have to remove the plastic engine cover to see it.
