Couldn't find any info on the problem and can't solve it either as the easiest method - throwing money at it - is not available :( ) Anyhow, about 3 month ago started getting parking sensor failure messages when trying to reverse (and a constant buzzing noise obviously) - at the time fault would normally clear after a couple of seconds and all starts to work.. Eventually though failure became permanent (and it's the buzz that's really getting to me - system is factory installed so just removing it won't be a good solution + am too used to them sensors - stilo has some amazingly big blind spots and once i have been unable to see a child and a person that has managed to trip and fall behind me - but sensors did! as far as i'm concerned these sensors save lifes..). Ok what i have tried - connection under the bumper (no issues there), got me local to hook it up a fiat diagnoster - came up with rear right sensor internal failure.. now to the problem: easiest way to check if sensors are working is to listen (they click every second or so - just like a sub ) all 4 seem to be working... which got me thinking - perhaps the system is just unbalanced an needs to be retrained  can only guess that this is possible to do (for me that is as i’ve only an elm interface) by unplugging and plugging back in a ‘faulty’ sensor or find a replacement one at the local breakers (and for the first time with me stilo it appeared easy to do as you can get to the sensor without removing anything - the hole lower side of the bumper is big enough..) but i can't remove sensor plug (wiring) there doesn't appear to be any catches and just pulling it doesn't work :( .. elp pls

I would expect the wiring to the actual sensors to be weather proof sealed

I'd check out connector D89 and the connector C to the parking sensor node M84

I'd also check the node earth to earth point C31

I tend to turn the radio off and open the window a little when reversing. The screams from cats and idiots who want to lie down behind your rear bumper are louder and more reliable than parking sensors

Could be too late by then though (and i happen to like cats :)) - all wiring/ground etc. ok (manual inspection and fiat diagnostic) - just need to remove the sensor itself (can't do that until it is unplugged :bang:) thank you for a reply though (was beginning to feel ignored..) lol

Easiest solution is to take the bumper off :( sensors have a small catch on the plug (it is too small to feel and is very fragile as i've found out) the sensor itself is held in place by two plastic catches (no need to rotate it to remove). Reason for failure: sensors have drain plugs (i assume to allow for condensation to come out or come in?!) if you are using a pressure washer (and/or if sensors were badly installed from factory - like mine) dirt can get into these drain holes - dirt on inside = sensor sends continuous signal and is flagged as broken by the system. Stilo park assist will not work with an array of less than 4 sensors.. If anyone has a couple to spare (tried to open one to clean it - they are not meant to be opened! as it turned out..) or knows where to get em cheap (scrappies are no good - hardly anyone has em and those that do are in same condition as mine.. that is not working/soon to fail) - much appreciated. PS: system can be unplugged (the noise is really annoying) but it is a smart node = flashing mileage display – bugger :(

If you go to FIAT they can configure it so be in towing mode (think it's just a positive feed, I can check . . . ) and it will deactivate the system whilst leaving it connected.

thanks! that'd be really nice of you :) (going to fiat is not, however, an option - can't afford it - spent all me cash on engine parts )
