I know a lot of people say the rear lights on the 3 door are one of the attractive features, but I really don't like them. Does anyone know how or where I could get something to modify them. I don't much like the Lexus style fittings, plus I haven't seen them for a Stilo. What I would ideally like is a fully finished body coloured unit that separates the lights into circular units, but I don't want something that looks like it has been stuck on like most of these units seem to. I would want a seemless joint with the rear side wings and the area above and below the current light unit at the back.

Bravo Vs Stilo (again!!!)

No offense but the Bravo lights have had there day, they were something different when new, but the tinted look has been well copied now. I know 'lexus' lights aren't all that original either, but the Stilo's lights are a little unique being arrow shaped.

I reckon you'll have a job finding aftermarket jobbies TBH, cos like you say, they are viewed as a good feature, so there probably isn't the market for them.

Re: Stilo in................................

Stilo lights are so cool that Vauxhall stole the design, made s botch of it and fitted to their new abortion, the new Astra. Back of a Stilo, front of a Corsa, wheel arches of the Focus, the rest of the body was their own design, see my point.... a mess.

Anyway i digress.

Note the past tense, I "did" prefer the Bravo lights, I realise they are dated and wouldn't want something like that on my Stilo, just don't want the Stilo lights, they look like they are made of Lego. Sorry to be contraversial, but taste is very personal.

Re: Another.......................

Oh yes TC, play that card, again. Obviously that's because I can't string two words together and hence don't work to get a job, or is it because I go to university 29 hours a week?

For the number of recurring faults on the Stilo I feel my statement is justified when stiloboy made the same comment re: vauxhall. Anybody who fails to see the depriciation of the stilo, the low number of sales and the faults such as tyre wear are just pretending to themselves "because it's a fiat". Now I do like the stilo but that doesn't mean it's a good car, a good car would need things like 4 tyres touching the ground properly in 4 places.

Oh well, here goes.

The Bravo Lights dated? Errr I think not chaps. They may have been copied by all and sundry but the Stilo lights are just a copy of something else whereas the Bravo lights still turn the heads. The Bravo was original in it's day and only the Seat Leon and Alfa 147 are anywhere near it in the looks department with the Alfa being the true spiritual successor to the Bravo IMO.

Sadly Fiat are losing their trend-setting abilities (apart from the new Panda possibly) and I don't see anyone copying the Stilo which isn't surprising being as it's a copy of so many cars itself. I know you guys like the Stilo and I have to say my initial hatred of the styling is waning slightly for the 3-door but it's still very Germanic (the 5-door is unmentionably ugly) and soul-less.

Having said that I am definitely a curves man and as such the Bravo fulfills my motoring desires aesthetically in every way hence why mine is unmodified (why mess with perfection?). The Stilo is far too angular and looks like a Bravo that has had it's character stolen by the cheese wire. I have tried to like it but each time I see one it's a sense of disappointment I feel not desire. :( It's not as if Fiat can't do angular well as they have done in the past (131, 127, etc..) but they were always original. I just feel that the Stilo is a step backwards

Having said that, if I was to buy a new car in this category and I couldn't have a Leon or a 147 I would probably go for the Stilo as it's still better than a lot of the competition. Just doesn't stir the soul enough IMHO.

Ok Paul....................

that's fair enough, your opinion is always appreciated!
Calm down, calm down, soften your approach, no need to get so angry!

Ozric, if you have a look at most modern cars they seem to have moved away from curves and have gone all angular. I saw a BMW 120d yesterday for the first time and I was suprised how angular it was. Most cars seem to have this high shoulder styling now.

I know mate that's why I don't like most modern cars. :( The 147 and the Leon manage it though. :)

However, the Bravo is here for the duration as I still don't think that there is a car in it's class that is better looking or gives a better "Grin-per-pound" pay-back for the money they cost, although the 147 is as good in the looks department (can't comment on the "Grins" as I have never driven one).

The 147........................

makes you grin alright, but you have to bear in mind, it's more modern than the Bravo and very very expensive!

I have to say though regardless of what you like/dislike, angular is King at the moment and this is backed up by the modern car designs!

No one liked curves when the Sierra was launched, everyone was stuck in their box shaped cars, now we're moving away from curves and going back to boxy designs, crazy!

It's the way designs go chap. You get something fresh and new that attracts attention and becomes popular. This then affects peoples mind-set to the extent that when design houses showcase their new cars to their customer feedback panels they say it "should look more like the <insert your preferred brand of German mundanity here>" and so all designs go that way. It's just a shame that Fiat are following rather than setting the trend these days.

Remember that the 500 was the original Mini, the 127 the original super-mini, etc.....

All of a sudden we have the Mini (500 rip-off in terms of idea at least) and then cars like the MK1 Fiesta which was a blatant 127 rip-off.

Oh well, only another 8 years before the curves come back based on historical patterns. ;)
