I voted - not so good. I never felt confident with the brakes on my 2002 JTD until i upgraded to reddot Grooved discs and fast road pads.

got no problem with the brakes until i start to drive faster, i feel the car easily goes quicker than the brakes can cope with stopping.if you compare a multijet jtd 150 (281mm)and an astra cdti 150(308mm) and quite a few fabia vrs owners switch from 288mm std(i think) to 312mm.i think all modern cars have good brakes until you start doing a few high speed brakes and find they can cook the pads and disks.
thats the only reason i said "not so good".

That's just driving style though. You're not supposed to be driving like you're on a race track ;)

You can drive plenty fast without using brakes as long as you can read the road ahead. To me hitting the brake pedal hard is like making a mistake whilst driving ("why did I have to do that?" - "was it my fault or was it the other guys?" - "if it was the other guys then how come I didn't anticipate what he was going to do anyway!")

I always imagine dumping a load of fuel on the road surface every time I hit the pedal (which is basically true as far as fuel consumption goes).

Of course, any braking system should be able to get you down from high speed to zero in an emergency - and that I think the Stilo does well as long as you don't make a habit of it :)

my standard brakes were absolute dads pants - faded at every oportunity, not even fro great speed, could stop from 80 once, then drive very very slowly coz they wuldnt work afterwards, thy got hot to quickly, not good enough considereing the weight of the car, especially the 2.4:mad:

might have just been bad brakes on my car but they were poor, and would eat pads for fun

ebc dimpled and grooved and red stuff pads were great, and since ebc changed the red stuff compound there cold braking is massivly better too, even better with 5.1 fluid, but have since found dot 4 just as good and doesnt need changing every 6 months like 5.1

braided hoses next, well got em just need to fit em

errr no:eek::D, everyday driving and two tracks and they were about done, well worth the purchase though(y), and now they are doing rears i may get some more, they didnt vibrate either once they were broken in, but that took ages, got some nitrac discs as a replacement and although they work very well, they have warped like a bastard after the ring, still work good though, just get a lovely massage through the steering on heavy braking;)
