That is because there are many thousand more of them. Also a 1.2 is very easy / cheap to repair , find parts for or replace the engine compared with the very high cost of a repairing a failed Abarth engine.

On the other hand, try finding a JTD that has failed. Very rare indeed.

Re: 2.4 20v Abarth 53reg

I've had my 03 selespeed for just over three weeks now and I love it to bits. The only thing is when I started it up yesterday I got various fault message on the dash (ASR, airbag, engine management system and I think ESP). The dealer told me it was dirt in the petrol and I should just run it and they will disappear, I think he's lying! Any helpful ideas would be gratefully received.

I tend to ignore the ASR/ESP ones, they are almost always down to loose connections, brake light swith etc... On the one or two occasions I've had the ASR/ESP failure and its switched its self off, you just stop the engine, restart and its fine.

I think I've read on here in the past that it can be down to low power from the battery.

Most likely a battery on the way out in the cold weather... could also be earth issues.

Try a search and you'll find the answers
