Please could someone help me with this - I have just bought a second hand Jan 2006 Stilo 1.9 JTD. It is fitted with a front passenger airbag which is easy to switch off but is also fitted with rear side air bags. The book says the key to switch this off is located in the boot but I can't find it? Does it exist? If so where exactly ? Also, do the side air bags HAVE to be switched off when carrying a baby in a car seat - I know the front one has to be off but I have never owned a car with side air bags before. Thanks. Andy

If you don't have the switch in the boot, then you don't have rear side airbags fitted.
They are usually only fitted on the Hi-Spec Dynamics or Abarth's.

i aint got a switch and iv got em, i wouldnt have thought they where dangerous to babys, as their curtain ones, they only come down to cover the windows and stop heads rolling outside(y)

Every stilo has curtain airbags. I am talking about rear seat airbags, built into the side of the seat, like the front seats have. These have a switch to turn them off, which I think also turns off the rear seatbelt pretensioners.

Both these are only on high spec Dynamics and Abarths. My estate has them, but most don't.

:chin: I've hot a high end Dynamic but I don't have them (only the side or pillar bags) :(

I wonder what the criteria is for inclusion?

I don't think you do. You have a mid level spec Dynamic.
I am not sure what the exact spec levels are or called, but cars that have have Xenons, Sky Roof, CN+ and Climate Control, should also have the rear airbags and pretensioners.

If you have only a Sky Roof, CD player and Climate Control then it seems you dont get the extra airbags.

There's no such thing as a 'mid level Dynamic' (or any other level come to that) but you're right, Fiat did offer various 'pack' options when ordering the car such as 'comfort' & 'luxury' etc.

Pretty certain; Sky Roof, Alarm and Connect NAV are separate options though.

I know there was an option for a built-in child's seat so maybe that was part of what they might have called a 'safety pack'

Maybe according to the brochure you order one like that, but with reference to my own MW, there seem to be a lot around with exactly the same spec. I believe they were supplied to the UK in that spec and put on the forcourt, rather than someone ordering the specific options they want. I think most Stilos were supplied like that as it could be a long wait probably more expensive if you ordered one from fiat and they had to build it to your spec and then ship it to the UK.
There are quite a few on here and we all have the same spec JTD's. Basically every option except parking sensors and leather seats. Strangely they all seemed to be called Active on the V5 as well, which has the benefit of making my insurance a littile cheaper.

there isnt high, mid low dynamics or abarths

just the above with options, you got one with alot of optional extras;):p

they were all supplied in their basic spec and ordered with the options fitted, yours must be an active with every concevable (cant spell) extra

they also did a 1.8 dynamic mw.....try finding one of them:yum:

waiting times for them building the car to your own spec is 6weeks

The Dynamic badge on the side and the 115hp JTD that was never available on an Active go against that theory though.

ok a dynamic with extras then:p:rolleyes:

not one of the posts above said you had a dynamic

both the 80 and 115 JTD were available on the active estates:p

models are as follows

1.6 16V Active 5d
1.6 16V Active 5d (AC)
1.9 JTD Active (80bhp) 5d
1.9 JTD Active 5d
1.9 JTD Active 5d (AC)
1.9 Multijet Active 5d (AC)

and the 1.8 and dynamic later on

but were never officially put on the model list, so in this sence you insurance is void in an accident as the car covered isnt the car driven:confused:

thats suss that is:eek:
