Hi

Anyone else have this problem?

If I start the engine whilst the stereo is playing (CD, Tape or Radio), the sound is totally disabled for several hours, or at least until after the car has been parked quietly somewhere for a while. When this happens, everything still works (the buttons still make the screen do stuff, and I can hear the CD changer and tape player whirring away nicely), except there is no sound whatsoever.

I have the standard Stilo Blaupunkt Radio Cassette Player, with the standard Blaupunkt IDC A09 CD Changer in the upper glovebox.

I know the obvious answer is "make sure the stereo is switched off when you start the engine", but sometimes I forget, and on long journeys I hate driving without music! I've already taken it to my dealer once but they weren't any help.

I've checked all the settings (including the mute button :) ), and I don't think there is a problem with any of those.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes, mine sometimes does this too (and usually accompanied by a loud thump from an angry sub).

As you say, the solution(?!) is to ensure that the radio is off before starting the car, which is rather annoying when you've been sat listening to a CD and turning off the radio resets the CD back to the flippin' start!!

If it does happen, try stopping the engine removing the key before starting all over again. Failing that, remove and reinsert the audio fuse.

Thanks Barbarian. I will try this next time it happens, and post the result back here.

Okay, I tried it, and it didn't help. It was worth a shot. I think the best plan is just to make sure the stereo is "off" when I turn the ignition.

If anyone else has any bright ideas, please let me know.

Thanks

I have similar problem with my CD-player. Sometimes when I start my engine CD-players display is just shineing but it wont play. If I press volume button to turn it off and wait a few seconds and turn it on it will work just fine but not always!

Sometimes I just see CD PLAY on my display but no light, it kind of hangs... Turn off and turn on engine solves my problem but I don't like it that way!

What the problem can be I just don't know!
