MAF Sensor

Hi, been reading threads about MAF sensor problems and it looks like that is what is wrong with my JTD. My question is how far can the car be driven with the sensor disconnected ? (as i have a 200 mile journey on monday ). Cleaning it is no problem but i don't want to risk making the problem worse, also could a dirty air cleaner be affecting the MAF? Thanks in advance for any replies...

I wouldn't worry about driving with it disconnected over that distance.

Well worth giving it a clean with some electrical contact spray (stuff from Halfords is quite good).

Also helps if you've got the correct 5 star head to remove it.

Hi!
I need to change my MAF sensor. I was in Fiat service today and they told me that the price of that part is about : 180 euro.
I have stilo with 1.9 jtd manufactured in 12.01 (115km).

I checked in the network and Bosch provides MAF sensors (part number :
0 281 002 308) but they wrote that it is for cars dated on 12.2003 and up.

Could sb advise me what to do?
The same problem I have with EGR sensor. Is it alternative for orginal parts from Fiat? (Delphi for example?).

Best regards,
Slavomir

Take out the MAF sensor and read the Bosch number off the sensor. You should then be able to find a copy of a Bosch one for about 40 euros.

For the EGR, just take it out, clean it and put it back or block it off all together.

So isn't possible to buy it from delphi or else?

There are after market copies of Bosch ones available, but no, you have to use a Bosch (or copy of) one. They are the only company that makes them.
Any after market ones will still be referenced by the original Bosch part number so you need to take the MAF out and get that part number from it.

Thanks John!
I've already ordered Bosch MAF.
But what about EGR sensor?

EGR is a valve, not a sensor. Take it off and clean it out. They are very expensive and can only get them from Fiat. Alternatively, you can just block it off as it is only for emissions control anyway. Don't unplug it though because the ECU will throw up error codes.

Re: MAF replace

Can anyone give me the part number for MAF sensor original Bosch ? My car is 1.8 Dynmaic from 2002.

I'm going to Italy and a mate suggested its cheaper to buy the MAF in italy cost about 80 Euros.

Thanks,

Re: MAF replace

Is it BOSCH 0281 002 308 ? i can see this works with 2.4 but does it work with 1.8 as well ?

Thanks in advance!

hang on a minute the 1.8 doesnt have a MAF in the same sence the 2.4 and jtd does, its incorperated into the throttle body, prob why it is so expensive
need alot of other parts besides, not just a case of just swaping the sensor in the housing like the jtd and the 2.4 as it dont have one like that:(

I think you are right, do you have a P/N e.t.c where you can buy the whole throttle body ? how much should it cost e.t.c....

Thanks,
