Right, I'm off on a family holiday on the weekend to France. Having the Nav+ I thought perfect opportunity to exploit the sat nav.. some thing that doesn't really get used in the car.
Now the main reason the sat nav is off most of the time is because the disc was scratched and seemed to take forever to load up and once loaded end up locking on an address input screen or something.
I got the disc polished/cleaned at the Chips games store today and it now seems to work fine, the problem is the sat nav will not display an inputted route and when you set off driving a 'can not calculate route, choice a different destination' notice comes up on the screen.
So guys, what the heck is going on, is it still a disc issue or have I a problem with the unit. I've done some google searches and can't find any threads or sites showing this issue coming up with any one.

Is the little satellite in the top left green? Press info and see if it is finding any satellites. The car tries to estimate where you are going (based on speed, steering angle etc) if it cant find a signal and it goes way off course.

I have 9 satellites located, the map follows me as I move and shows the correct location.

All that is missing is the display drawing the route, showing the ETA and distance and calling the oral directions etc etc. Every time I put a new destination in it tries to calculate the route (the map goes dull with the egg timer) then I get a warning box come up saying can not calculate route, change destination or move to a different location.. or something along those lines.
I have been in the secret setup menu as well and everything seems alright with an 'ok' against all the gsm and such like bits.

Come on help.. I may end up in Spain and not Brittany if it doesnt work out.

Oh Stu, I wasn't to worried about the disc after having it polished up.. still wondering if it is causing the problem though.

it is common for the lasers to get tired in these and take a long time to read the disk. Sometimes cleaning the laser lens works. Other times you need a new laser.

Are you trying to calculate a route from here to France as it may not do this. Try a UK only route.

No i've tried routes that are a mile long, from me to dover and used old routes that it has navigated before.
I will try a lens cleaning disc tomorrow and see what that does.
Its odd that the map follows the car as it moves and shows all the correct details.
