Some more questions:
I have read on the Italian forum that for the keys thare are 2 options:
2 remote control keys if you have an alarm
1 with remote + 1 normal key without alarm.
Can anybody confirm this?

Does anybody know if we need a Key-code card for a possible key replacement if needed?

Does anybody know if the front-light washers mounted with Xenons are heated? I think they are but I cannot find an official confirmation for now.

Thanks.

Since model 2004 there are two different keys : 1 with remote + 1 normal key. But I've got 2 keys with 3 buttons each one

On 90% the front light washers aren't heated - thinking they are wormed by the temeprature of the engine, and sufficently at all

I have two remote control keys and do not have an alarm (shhh!). The dealer did tell me that was kind of unusual.

As far as the Key-code card goes, I saw all sorts of mention of it in the handbook, but did not have a card. I called the dealer and they said that "since everyone loses the key-code card anyway, they (the dealer) send them back to Fiat" . So, what is the story if we need a new key/remote?

The excuse that used to be given out as to why dealers do not supply the cars with key cards is due to 'insurance reasons'. Smells like bull**** to me and I've got my keycard from Fiat, through my dealer.

It's a pretty essential item to have, anyway - it has the manual immobiliser activiation code on and you also need it if various electrical ECUs etc need replacing. Should you disconnect the battery or remove the radio/Nav + unit, you'll also need one of the codes on the key card - otherwise you end up waiting whilst your 'friendly' dealer goes through a right rigmarole faxing the "International Security Register".

Therefore my advice is to politely whack your dealer over the head with a blunt object until you *are* given the key card. One day you might need it.

Sounds like good advice!

I got 2 remote control keys with mine, BUT no key-card. I will speak to the main Fiat franchise in Northampton tomorrow [they know me well because of Ulysse] and let them discuss it with FIAT Uk.

Note - I bought the car from another, non-Fiat dealer.
