Hi all,
I bought my Stilo last Friday and its great :) Love the cruise control.

I do have a few problems with it though which I guess should be expected as its almost 6 years old.
Luckily these problems aren't engine related.

Heres my list of problems/questions:
1. The drivers side door does not lock when using the remote key fob, all the other doors lock and the full closure system works but I have to keep using the key in the drivers door! This is really annoying and pretty much makes the remote central locking feature pointless. I have messed with the computer and tried changing the 'Lock drivers door separately option' but on both settings it does the same. I guess its not a critical problem but it would be nice if it worked.

2. My Connect nav+ doesn't work fully  The amplifier module and cd changer are marked red in the Service menu and the radio version is red. Everything else is green. The cd on the head unit won't eject, it has an audio cd in it - wish I'd left the map cd in now so at least the sat nav would be fully working. I have read on here that the amplifier maybe red if it is not fitted however I get absolutley no sound from the speakers and all the source options on audio are greyed out and cannot be selected - also the sat nav reads no audio on it.
Only found the upper glove box today lol, didn't even realise it had a cd changer. Can't seem to remove the unit to check the connections, ive tried electric screw drivers, wire coat hanger and even been and got some double din keys, it just won't move

3. There is a wire hanging down underneath the passenger front seat along with a plug and a bracket thing - is this something to do with the air bag system? Im guessing it should be attached to the bottom of the seat.

4. When using the remote central locking should the indicators flash? It does say they do in the manual but not on mine.

Thanks in advance for any help on these.

Also, when should the cambelt be changed and how much are we talking? It is 6 years old and done 24k miles.
Its going in for a full service on friday just in case as the record I have in the service book was last stamped at the end of 2006!

Thank you,
Stephen

These are only guesses but the central locking may need plugging in to the computer at Fiat garage. I had a similar problem with mine when I came back of hols once and the Battery had gone flat. They reset something and all was fine and has been since.

Not sure about satnav but try running the diagnostic mode on it. You have to press a couple of buttons down at the same time, there is a post somewhere in here on how to do this.

Taking out the multi changer is easy, just a pair of standard radio removal keys/pins will have it out in seconds and the same goes for the satnav.

As to the flashing indicators again they will need to be switched on at the dealers. 2 minute job. It wont cost much, possibly get em to do it when you get the locks sorted.

Hope this helps(y)(y)

Forgot to say not sure about the wire hanging down from the seat. I think mine is the same but does yours have heated seats or electric front seat. somtimes the wire from the heating element breaks and hangs down. Pretty easy to fix with a soldering iron though.;)

Glad to see you liking the Stilo, you'll have to put up some pictures!

I think ive had this problem, that wire and bracket should rest in a little tray that you can spin out from under the seat. Just pop it back on the tray and the tray should click onto a bar under the chair.

Best off having a good look under the chair - you'll probably see where its supposed to be! (y)

Thank you for the replies,
Ive managed to sort the wire under the seat now.
I got the cd changer out ok but cannot budge the headunit at all! Ive tried double din keys, screw drivers, all sorts but it just wont move :(

I have read in the manual the amplifier has its own fuse which is in the fuse box in the boot in the left compartment but I can't find it to check if it has blown . Does anyone know exactly where it is? There doesnt appear to be anything under the compartment insert apart from a wire going to the rear light cluster.

I have a few days off next week so will take it to an audio place and a fiat garage to sort the other things.
Its in for a service at a local garage at the moment and he's doing me a quote for the cambelt change.
Also someone reversed into my car on Monday , it needs a new bumper and some work on the panel just below the fuel cap. Luckily the guy owned up and he is paying for the bodywork repairs and the service so worked out quite well.

The connect nav+ having no radio/cd working is beginning to annoy me but I still like listening to the engine ;). I guess when I do get radio working it will save me money in petrol!

Cheers,
Stephen

Check fuse on the rear of connect nav. Remove the whole unit. It sounds like it has gone. This usually happens when someone puts the battery on backwards.

Drivers Door unlocking is an option in the car setup menu on the Connect Nav. change it, then try the locking.

Some cars have the lights flashing and some don't. A fiat dealer can enable it if you want it.
