I have my undertrays off ready to check gearbox oil level I have located the drain allan bolt at bottom of gearbox but for life of me cannot locate a filler hole on the side or anywhere to measure the level as I have a allan bolt on top of gearbox to add oil and do not imagine filling all the way up to that level, can anyone shed some light on this please as I have a elearn manual with no diagram and seems very different to petrol stilo gearbox it is an 04 multiwagon 115jtd

Pretty sure I picked it up somewhere that the filler on the JTD is on the top of the box ..now lets see if eper says so..PNL goes off to look..:)

Edit.. bugger I cant get in as usuall..

thanks for effort PNL I get a blank screen with Eper myself..I do have the top filler hole but can not imagine filling all way up to that unless it is a case of having to drain the gearbox and fill with correct amount..1.6 Litres of gearbox oil...I do have wires exiting side of gearbox so hope that if it was low maybe they would be a warning on the displey should have to change the hole lot of oil soon

Well you have to drain and fill I dont think any of the stilo's have a dip stick for the transmission..well maybe the silly speed one but that dont count as its not a manual box..so there you go time to do a gearbox oil change..I did my cars at 30k miles and its as important as checking the engine oil ..just because its out of the way is no excuse so get down and dirty..;)

yep looks like a full change of the gearbox oil coming up just do not have the full quantity to do today which bit of a pain as I have it all ready to do still least I know now how to get at it and should not take that long ..like yourself like to keep all oils changed at regular intervals and sure it is due a change..cheers for the input

Your welcome..(y)

thanks for the eper info ..looks like a full oil change in order then and not too complicated for a change..

one thing I was thinking on at looking at the m50 spec diagram of the casing and when looking around the gearbox for some sort of filler level screw is that there is a bolt on the casing facing out towards the passenger wheel at a height just higher than the oil switch and just thought that as on the eper there is only one of these would it by chance be a small oil level bolt where by when filling the gearbox the correct level is when the oil flows from this small bolt hole if removed , as in the past on another vehicle it was a case of removing a 10mm bolt and filling until oil came out of that small bolt hole , is a long shot maybe but was wondering how I would actually check the fluid level in the future after this oil change or is it a case of a full oil change each time surely there is some sort of level check or is that thinking too much..
