Please help, cause I’m tired dealing with services and garages anymore.

I’ve got Fiat Stilo 1.9 JTD 115 HP. I’m having problems with increased vibrations (on idle and when driving) and difficult gear shifting (to 2nd and 3rd gear). Also at the first moment when accelerating hard the engine shakes and hits a little bit.

The parts which are changed with the original ones up to now are:

1. Clutch with throw-out bearing
  • Flow meter
  • All four elastic pads (engine supports )

After changing of the elastic pads the car became like really new. :) There wasn’t any vibrations and gears shifting was excellent, but after a week the upper mentioned problems appeared.

I can leave with the small vibrations but is it very irritating difficult gear shifting (to 2nd and 3rd gear).

May the mechanics didn’t installed the elastic pads properly (not fastening them or putted in the right position) and this causes all of this trouble?

Hi and welcome to the forum :)
A few questions that may help us to help you.
What year is your stilo?
Mileage?
Any modifications?
What rpm does the engine tickover at?
What is the clutch biting point like? low or high?

Thanks

Hi, here it is the additional info.

  1. The year is 2002
  2. The milage is 102 000 km
  3. No modifications to the car were made
  4. The clucth biting point is normal (low)
  5. I think that the normal revs at idle mode are rougly between 800 or 850. Dpends on AC turned on and of. They are stable without fluctuation.
Thanks

This seems very illogical to me

What does the garage that fitted them say?

Have you taken the car to a specialist Fiat garage with full diagnostic equipment (Examiner) and if so what reports have you got?

I didn't do the examiner, cause each time they are charging more than enough and every time everythink is OK.

The garage that fitted the pads didn't said anything. They don't know how this happened.

Well, clearly you should go back to them (assuming you're quite sure it did clear the problem for a week). Have you looked for signs of a loose engine mount?

If examiner reports no issues then then of course there's no point having it checked again but it's still useful info all the same.

Changing the clutch made no difference at all then?

Changing the cluch improveed 70 % of the vibrations especilly when starting on first gear.

But still leanning the engine back and forth most logically causes the dificulties in gear change.

I'm pretty sure that the garage will never confess if they did a mistake, and say that there is something wrong with the Flywheel.

I'm wondering wheather this trouble may be caused really by the Flywheel?
