Just wondering is this normal when i press the gas on my car theres like a second delay before the car revs And it sounds a little loder than normal. Like a car with turbo. Can this be cause by screwed spark plugs?

ITs like when i put my foot down the car semmes to pull away slowely like its losing power when pulling off

Is this just a thing that happens at the start of acceleration, or continues in blips as you accelerate (say your going to 70MPH)?

If at the beginning then it's just turbo lag I would have thought.

Jon.

It's a 1.6 so it's not turbo lag.

I'd have a look at your plugs to make sure they're in good condition. If they're sooted up, change them to a hotter plug. If they're chalky white, change for a cooler plug.

It's what I've had to do with my Abarth and the Denso Iridiums I've put in have transformed the response of the engine. People don't realise how important sparkplugs are to an engine efficient running and it's worth putting something decent in there. (y)

Denso plugs are great for the 1.6 aswell. The gap is 0.1 mm wider than the OEM plug. Had a little flatspot myself before changing to Denso plugs. I didn't use the iridium though, as it's just the 1.6 litre, and not a race-car.

Don't forget that you got an electrical controlled throttle... It's very normal a little delay. Actually you have the opportunity to have a conversasion with the car:

Driver: I' want to accelerate!
Car: Are you sure?
D: YES! THAT'S WHY MY FOOT IS COMING OFF THE FLOOR!!!
C: Okay, if you say so..
And then it goes!

Anyway, i hear that iridium sparks give a little better respone, so why won't you try it... At least i'm gonna do it this week!

I got my Denso Iridims from www.sparkplugs.co.uk. The cost depends on your engine but expect to pay about £7 +VAT for each.

I have to say, I do like the Denso's and I feel like the car is more responsive... now It could just be me fooling myself but I reckon they are much better than the Bosch Super Plus's that were in there previously. They were quite badly coked/sooted when I pulled them out making me think that they were too cold and not burning the mixture properly. Hopefully, the Denso's should sort that out now (y)

Well , i've just talked to my mechanic. He conviced me NOT to go for iridium... It seems to be an electrical issue. Something about 12v power returns on the coil that burns tem (the coils). So i'll not be able to inform you...

I'll keep on have these long conversations with my cars motor...

Sorry...

No need for the iridium plugs, as it is not a race-car (as mentioned). But I will guarantee better response with the standard Denso plugs with 0.9 mm gap.

Well, I'll keep an eye on mine then as I've got Denso Iridiums but to be fair, they seem great to me, much more responsive.
