The Sky window is simply fantastic.
I would appreciate some feedback from owners of Stilo's with this great feature.
Is it working fine?
Thanks

Agreed, the Sky Window is cool.

FYI, if the window and blind ever get stuck in any position, turn the selector know to position 1 (the first one open from fully closed) and hold it in until the window/blind starts moving again.

I have noticed that you can see a very tiny gap when you are inside the car looking through the mechanisms of the sky window (centre, both sides).
I have checked both sides and they both have the same gap, I clearly see outside light but no signs of water or anything else coming through.
The gaps are 1 mm wide or less.
I still believe the Sky window of the Stilo is a technological masterpiece but has anybody else noticed the same curiosity?
I do not udnerstand how you can have a tiny gap and it is all still working fine even in very heavy rain?
Thanks.

:) Then we have to admit they have done a Fantastic job at Fiat prototypes a few years ago! Ciao.

I tested the Sky Window in position 1, 2 even with heavy rain at quite high speed...it seems working perfectly but I still cannot figure out why....no rain inside: is it a miracle of the Italian Madonna or what?
Has any other car maker invented something similar to the Fiat Sky Window?

Do not forget not to use it in ice or snow: it can break.
I have just found out reading the manual that you can close it manually in a tech emergency: very important, especially if you have leather seats!
Ciao.

Ciao.

Are you sure it is actually a gap and not just a small piece of clear glass where a company logo is stamped?

It does not get stuck,it has got several options, the 5 on the knob are actually 10 (5X2), read the manual. It is the best feature of the car in my opinion: fantastic design. They could not do it better.

:D I have all the answers but make sure no one tells an rival manufacturer, next day they'll have the same thing!! As most companies copy italians.
Anyway, pretty sure no one here will as they love their italian cars and italian engineering and must have italian passion to buy these orignal cars.
Right, the reason there is no water dripping is because the engineers have made a channels for excess water to escape through rubber hoses situated on each corner of the sky win''. This is obviously behind the interior (roof carpet, plastic moulding etc). You may be able to see the hoses if you have a peep under the car (rear). Just like to say another fantastic feature on the Stilo. Great car and love it to bits!!!!!!!!!!

I had a fiat tempra with an electric sunroof, it too had channels and tubes running down to the rear wheel arches. Every so often you had to unblock them to stop the roof leaking.

The sky window sold the car to me, loved the gadgetry behind it all. My mum lo and behold found out that if you hold the unlock button on the key, long enough it'll lower the windows and open the sky window+ blind, and vice versa if you press the lock button..

Stilo 3 door with a Sky Window on it: the best good-looking car on the road in terms of design and style.
:) No doubt!!!

I am still seriously thinking about buying a Stilo jtd to replace my Bravo jtd (51) but I am a bit worried about going for the Sky window after all of the problems that I had with th sunroof on my Bravo. Are you guys sure that the Sky window iisn't going to leak?

My friends in Italy have all confirmed the new Sky Window has not given any problem at all.
Also here on this forum you do not find anybody with a problem.
Somebody found the Sky Window not working properly, eg stuck in a position, but if you follow the procedure indicated in the manual you can deactivate the sensors which block the window if there is a foreign body in the mechanism. You can also reset the window.
This was not a fault but a safety feature in case a kid leaves its fingers between the blades.

The water, if any goes through, would only go into special tubes built directly underneath the blades and on the sides: all together this water is drained at the rear through an advanced and complex system which has been tested for years before adopting this window.
In the end ,even in the unfortunate case of the the window leaking, the water would not go into the car but in this special micro gutters.

I have tested the window under the most extreme rain, eg a couple of weeks ago there has been a small tornado here, and all worked perfectly.
If the electric motor would break, there is an emergency procedure for closing the window manually using a special tool which is hidden behind the Sky window control panel and this is all explained in the manual.

I would defintely go for it: I was very worrried before getting it myself but I have done my research, including Italy, where there are more Stilos than in the UK, and I would say 100% of people are happy with it.

Of course it can fail one day, but the system is built in such a way that you should not damage the car at all, unless the blades are broken by a vandal or something, then you would need to go to a dealer asap but then also the windscreen is a glass and could break if hit by somebody: this Skywindow is better than all previous sunroofs.

I have to admit a friend of mine has got a very old Fiat Tipo (if you still remember this car), he is in the UK, with the sunroof, after over 15 years this sunroof is still perfectkly working with no leaks: of course on forums mainly people with problems send messages, this is why you will always find more problems than "thank you" messages for Fiat.

Go for it.
