when i accelerate hard the car jerks and it seems like the the engine is misfiring or is starved of fuel or something. It's been happenin occasionally but today the accelerator imputs were very harsh and it was misfiring often. Has anyone else experianced this?

I booked it in for next week but this is probably the first stilo fiat south africa has ever tried to fix so i dont have high hopes considering that fiat UK doesn't seem to have much success fixin their cars. So any imput or help would be really appreciated.
thanks alot!

I've experienced this is several ways :-

First time was when the car had done about 10,000 miles. In the first few miles as the engine was warming up, it would hesitate when not under full-throttle. A long story followed, but it turned out to be a result of head gasket failure - water was getting into one cylinder and stopping the spark ignition. The cure ? A new engine....

Second time was cured, albeit for a while, by a new engine ECU - this is a known fault, seemingly one of a huge list that Stilo's possess :-(

My car (2 years old, 3dr Abarth) is now doing this again sometimes in the morning when the engine is cold. I'd take it in, again, to get it looked at but I'm changing the car soon so I'll just live with it for a bit.

Diesel20 I presume you drive 1.9JTD Stilo. A friend of my also drive one and if he does not fill up with low Suphur diesel the car yerks and loses power.Yip the wonders of living in South-africa Crap diesel quility. The diesel with the lowest suphur is Sasol Diesel or something not sure
