Dear friends,
I have the following problem with a 1.6 16v Stilo 2002 - the MIL light is on and i get an "engine failure" on the display. I bought a ELM327-based tool and detected, that the failure is generated by the knocking sensor - the error codes are 1325 and 0325 (if i remember right). The problem is that when i clear the mistake and reconnect the tool without starting the engine, the mistakes remain, but they are with a "pending" status. The MIL light went off, but soon afterwards it lits again and the mistakes become "normal" - without the pending status. What does pending means in such case? Does the ECU detects some failure in the electric circuit or it detects some problems with the sensor itself? How does the ECU know that there might be a problem with the knocking sensor as the engine hasn't been started and obviously there weren't any knocking to be detected?
Also i found out that when the MIL is on the car loses some power and generally (after clearing the mistakes) is lits again around 2500-3000 rpm.

Thank you in advance.

A pending code means it's noticed a problem there, if it gets a few more of the same type instances it may turn it into a full warning. If they don't happen over a certain number of engine cycles then it may ignore it

As you're getting knock sensor circuit fault codes i'd go straight for the knock sensor connectors and give them a dose of contact cleaner

Without a functioning knock sensor I'd imagine the ecu reverting to base settings for engine safety

The knock sensor is extremely easy to replace if you need to do that but it's vital to use exactly the correct torque when refitting
