Hi, i was wondering which Stilo models where fitted with windscreen washer jets that spray a mist rather than a jet of water?

I've checked eper and im not sure which ones are which, they also state some washer jets as being heated. Can anyone explain how that works as i can't see any electrics going to them to heat them.

If anyone has the time to take a photo of there washer jet that sprays mist i would appreciate that so i know which to get or if possible provide with the dimensions of the washer jet as i want to fit them to another car. :)

Many Thanks in advance.

I didn't know any did and can't see the point to be honest

If you've ever tried cleaning the windscreen when it's very windy then you'll soon see that a mist is about as useful as a hole in the head

Pre-heating the washer fluid is normally done via a jacket inserted in the heater system. My experience is you're pretty much forced to use distilled water to stop minerals dropping out of solution once the system cools (jets alway blocking :bang:)

Since you've not actually seen them working then you really can't comment. In regards to your comment on heating they are infact wired into the cars loom and they are operated via there own thermostat.

Back on topic the mist washer jets work alot better than the standard jets. They spray over most of the window unlike the jets and they dont seem to get blocked up either.

Can anyone tell me if they have it on there Stilo or does nobody have it.

If you know so much about them then I'm surprised you bothered to ask

I assure you I've driven a car with heated washer jets and the operation is exactly as I've described (obviously not a Stilo).

However it's quite possible that electrical heating, which would normally be considered very inefficient, at the point of exit (at the jet/spray) may overcome the blockage problems I've previously mentioned.

Im still non the wiser. Ok well i've found several cars to use the mist jets rather than the normal jets of water. Guess its a case of going to the scrapyard.

Let us know how you get on and what car's you get them off of. Won't be able to fit one to my panda because of the shape of the nozzle, but might fit a set to mum's Yaris.

Do you think the water pump might have to be a certain pressure to force the water out at speed to make the shape?

I don't know how powerful the pump on the Stilo is, but it might be worth concidering!

Jon.

I used a Citroen/Peugeot mist washer jet to fit to my Bravo, i needed to make a custom clip to hold it in place but it worked a treat.

GP's have these as standard, very cleverly FIAT achieved this by making the washer nozzles non-adjustable but point them at the wiper blades rather than the screen...

Hey Presto... Instant Mist! :p

Are they made in China ("wok")? Seriously, do you have a part number for them? Are they a straight swap on the Stilo?

They're not OEM parts, but were a straight swap. Will get some pic's up and try and find a link somewhere you can buy them online. Won't be until tomorrow though.

Cost me about £5 for the pair :D :)

I must admit, I've always considered the washers on the Stilo to be very good.

You get a total of 6 jets (more than on most cars I've owned) which are easily adjusted plus they've got that very clever easy clean feature.

What advantage, if any, do these 'mist' jets offer?

They offer compleate coverage of the screen when dry, so stop scratching if screen very dusty etc. This also allows smooth application of fluid evenly over the screen onto bug etc which appears to give a better clean if you have bug remover screenwash :)

Although I agree that standard Stilo jets are indeed alot better than most, the only issue I had were they're responce time.
