origional pipe work. no error messages and it actually accellerates like it used to when i bought it.

was on the battery box which was handy. apparantly the valve i had on was withdrawn in 2004. must be because they were ****.

that's interesting, my JTD is a 2002 and don't believe the valve has ever been changed..... was there much difference in the valves appearence? mines still behind the bumper but never had an issue with it, yet

sorry for all the questions, LOL

seems to have a bigger body than the origional must be something to do with the solenoid.

I thought the overboost valve was the dump valve or am i barking up the wrong tree. Where would this valve be on a 2004 JTD multiwagon please and would i know if its not doing as it should. Thanks

Muppet1, there is no dump valve as standard, these are normaly associated with performance petrol engines.
The overboost valve as OE fitting is behind the front bumper, below the battery on the n/s.
However due to it getting wet rom puddles, dealers tend to relocate them to the side of battery tray although mine was never done.
Not 100% on the diagnosis side of things i'm afraid.

its the solenoid boost controller for your turbo. follow the black tubes coming from a device near your turbo, mine was on the battery box yours might be down in the bumper. you would have really poor performance and a flurry of horrible error messages when loading the engine.

Thanks, will look into it at the weekend, But having said that it doesnt like it when i drive through puddles so it might be down in the bumper.

just fitted new overboost valve on my jtd my god what a difference it has made.
That's an interesting post.

Did you get an engine light error or just change it for the sake of it? Mine is still original and up by the battery and I'd say performance is still spot on :spin:

Would be very interested to hear if you notice any change in mpg though :chin:

was 49 quid from the dealer which i thought was a good price knowing how fiat charge. kept getting warning light when heavily loading the engine, on roundabouts etc and felt sluggish under acceleration. like new now though spot on.

Some garages do a part ex service - so they can get your old one reconditioned and sell it on - this might be worth an ask?
You must be joking surely

Can't believe a little overboost valve is going to cost much more than £40

Fairly easy to clean anyway and I'm not even convinced they fail that often (apart from after excessive soaking)

i got mine from stonacre fiat in lincoln cost me 49 quid including vat some dealers are robbing ****s

noticed it a bit only 4 or 5 miles to the gallon round town, but with prices like they are now may as well squeeze as much out of it as possible. the performance improvements are the most noticable
