Hi,

Now that the weather has finally warmed up I tried to press the "snow flake" button that should chill the air coming out of the blowers. When I do this, the light comes on the button but the air doesn't get any cooler. It was last summer when I last pressed this button and it worked fine then. I want to check the fuse first of all but I dont have the manual to find out which fuse it might be. Does anyone have the manual for the Active Air Con who would be kind enough to look it up for me? I know I could remove each fuse and check if any are blown but I suspect that if I remove the fuse for the stereo it will ask for a code when I next turn it on .... a code I dont have.

Many thanks

Andrew

"air con" is perhaps not the best way to describe what it did. It didn't regulate the temperature, just chilled the air. using it through the winter would have made for a pretty uncomfortable drive.

If what you say is true and it needs "re-gassing" whats a ballpark figure on what it would cost? Is it something that any garage could do or would it require a specialist.

Thanks for the replies

To regulate the temperature you'd need climate control but air con does a cracking job of conditioning the air ie drying it out which is great in wet winter months

Noooo. You always have control of the temperature of the air coming into the cabin with the hot/cold control and can run aircon with the temperature up for fantastic warm dry air for super fast demisting. Summer, Winter I use mine in every season

Does that mean then using the air con control in winter with the temperature on high it uses the heated part of the air con to warm the cabin as to get the cold air it produces heat in the first place ..am asking as I have a jtd and not been through winter with it yet and as diesels take longer to heat up to get a warm cabin was curious why when the de-mister pressed the air con light came on..

i use my aircon all through the winter as you will find it demists the windows faster and besides that takes the mosture out of the air as well. As for the derv taking longer to heat the water but all the derv's i have had always warmed up quicker.

Yep use it all year round!!

Well, sort of, there is no heated part to the air con, it just very nicely happens to take moisture out of the cabin air very fast, the normal cabin heater matrix does the heating so you get warm, dry air which will demist your car very fast

The dry air will make the mother in law turn into a withered old prune though so make sure you hose her down after every journey
