Hi, guys in need of some help - I have a stilo spacewagon - 03 plate - 1.6 16v - recently i have started hearing this loud noise when braking - i dont think it is the pads as first - i have pad wear sensors secondly - if it was the pads it would make a screeching noise - i cant describe the noise its making - there are two noises - one hissing like noise and the other i dont no how to describe - my brakes work fine.

guys any help appreciated.:(

thanks in advance

It's never worth guessing when it comes to brakes.

Get it to a brake centre and get them to check it (should be FREE).

Don't rely on the wear sensor as many consider it a bit suspect on the Stilo (there's only one anyway and some people have been known to cut it )

the wear sensor on mine came on only when the disc lip cut through the cable! Luckily the pad cable!

Hissing noises can be serious, get the hydraulics checked ASAP

Hi - thanks for your reply - the noise only occurs when braking - ive got it booked n for monday - how would i know if its the hydraulics at fault - any other symptons.

cheers

Your fluid level may drop if its hydraulics, it could be the servo vacuum pipe damaged, if it were my car it would be in somewhere reliable TODAY!

It was only my rear discs and pads - which were totally worn out - done now and up n running.

cheers guys
