There is probably a thread about this somewhere but I couldn't find it so apologies in advance.

I just bought six months road tax, £220.:yuck::mad:

Four months ago I looked to trade my Schumacher in for a new car and was offered £8000 (Arnold Clark) yesterday I was offered £4200.(n)
It was a Ford dealer but they said that because it was a Fiat they would not re-sell on their forecourt and would sell to another dealer and only two would take it off their hands with the others saying they wouldn't touch Fiats.
Has Mr Chancellor cost me £4000?

Bloody hell! £220 for 6 months? That can't be right surely

Road tax for the Abarth is only £210 for 12 months... at the moment... at least until March 2009. Is yours a post March 2006 Schui then? if so, I feel gutted for you, I truly do... I'm not looking forward to next year

Yep May 06.
It really shows that the road tax is a revenue excersise otherwise it would be uniform across all cars based on CO2 emmisions regardless of age.
£165 (for six months) six months ago.

Totally agree. Although i feel that we should just scrap the road tax scheme based on emissions anyway and do it as a tax on fuel instead... much fairer, especially given that I do 3000 miles a year :D

I'm sure someone who does 30,000 will disagree though...

Road tax should be on physical size of vehicle, high CO2 comes with poor consumption so as you say the tax on the fuel covers that.

My next renewal is due on 31-07-08... so with a bit of luck, I'll get another 6 months and then get 12 months thereby avoiding the harsh £415 Road Tax until 2010... fingers crossed nothing changes before then! :D

Yep,

Looks like all us abarth owners are well and truely stuffed.
Mines like Greggers do a 6 month then a 12 to take me to 2010 may even sorn it for a week in march next year and then get a 12 month disc just to scrape it out a bit longer and then get rid at a terrible loss or hope they tax us on fuel instead.

I only use mine for a bit of pleasure driving at the weekend so sits on the drive most of the year, but its such fun when i do go out.
What else could you get for 3000 thats as loaded as an Abarth :slayer:

Think il get a brabus smart car

try been a 19yo on low wage, £1571 insurance (3rd party), £50 a week fuel to get to work, tax, running costs, mot, you name it. then that c@nt alistair darling goes and robs my wallet off me! i end up with jack sh!t at the end of the month cause of tax... i see why the dolers love it so much...

i say we jump him! take him for a long ride in the boot of my punto!

When I tried to trade my totally mint Schumi GP in ( 1.5 years old 2k miles on clock ) two Fiat main dealers did not want it. One said they would not even forecourt it and would put it out to the trade. Best offer was £5000. Eventually got a better deal elsewhere.
