I keep getting a warning that says "boot open", even when the boot is shut. It's annoying because it beeps at you when you pull off. I'm guessing it's the microswitch that has gone, but I can't seem to find it. I think it could be inside the lock itself, but would the whole lock need replacing then? Can anyone help??

Yes the microswitch is inside the lock as you've guessed:)
Fancy taking it apart?

Yeah I'll have a go at taking it apart. Any instructions on how to do it? do I need a new microswitch or is there any way you can repair the old one? Or have I got to get a complete new asembly?

More people just renew the whole lock but, if you're handy, you can take out the microswitch and just put a blob of superglue on the plunger top

It's pretty easy to remove the lock motor

where could i get the switch from? would it have to be direct from fiat or can you get one anywhere else or even online?

Ok, cheers, if not could I get a similar one from maplins or something?

You can get microswitches for sure but one that fits straight in? Doubt it

Microswitches are pretty robust so the switch is usually fine but the constant force of slamming the boot doesn't do it good

ok. How easy does the panel come out and how long does it take to get the switch out becuase I mite be tempted to have a quick look now

I've just took it out and tbh I think the switch is completely shot. I couldn't even get it to work by manually triggering it. I think I'm gonna have to pay £40 from fiat :(
