If anyone has made the same mistake as me and put their key through a wash and spin cycle and your key is doing strange things like opening the windows as soon as you go near the car then if all else fails you may want to try replacing the switches inside the remote.
First of all you need to prise off the fiat logo, this can be pretty tricky to do without damaging the logo as its stuck down pretty well.
Then remove the screw underneath and prise the case open ensuring to keep the key part with the bottom half.
You can then remove the circuit board from the top half with the three switches mounted on it.
In my case it was only the unlock button that was faulty by appearing to be constantly pushed in.
for the time being i have robbed the boot open switch to replace the faulty one, but plan to replace them all as soon as the new ones ive ordered have arrived.
Replacement ones can be ordered from Farnell order code 1437634 for 33p each theres a minimum order of £20 but it beats the £150+ fiat quoted me.
