Hi all,

Firstly before I get flamed (cos I am sure this has come up before) I have done a forum search and not found much detailed advice....anyway heer is my question....

Firstly my problem with the SAT NAV in my Abarth '52 is that more aften than not I looses connect to the SA NAv antenna IE the sat pic is not green and diagnostics says fault with antenna. However sometime it kicks back in, I get the green SAT icon and all is well...just up unitl it goes off again.

I am thinking loose wire (anyone any other ideas) so my first solution is to remove headunit and check all wires at the back are seated properly, namely the GPS antenna.....only I can't remove the head unit. I have done the cut up coat hanger thing into the two holes on the front but that does not seem to release anything so the unit does not slide out. Scared of applying too much presure pulling out of the cut out hidden by the glove box lid.

Any thought much appreciated.

Again, sorry if solution already posted

Thanks JD

Ps anybody have had the antenna loosing connection issue?
PPs this is a great forun, no really:worship:

Or two electrical screwdrivers - need to be pushed in about 3"

Slowly push the screwdrivers into the holes and you'll feel the clip release, then gently pull the screwdrivers apart and pull back, the head unit should slide out easily.

Thanks Dogspods. I did eventually get this to work and removed the head unit...the problem now is that I have no idea which is the GPS Antenna wire...I took them all out in the end then put them all back in, this did not fix my problem. Anyone know which is the GPS antenna wire so I can avoid removing wires that would be best left alone?

Cheers
JD

just to answer the question incase anyone else ever wants to know, the gps ariel is the grey connector at the top left corner ( if looking at rear of unit) the green connector which is almost identical is the gsm ariel.

Also the gps connector is a gt5 connection, replacement gps receivers are about £10-£30 on fleabay, if you'd rather not go down the £100+ new antenna base option
