General It finally got me...

This morning i finally had a spring break Im now wondering whether to buy a full set of the eibach springs. How low do they make the car, does it cause issue with speed bumps?

im on eibachs , -30mm, on my 1.8 3dr . Has dropped enough to look good , but not low enough to cause problems . ( well cant make it onto the forecourt at fiat in warrington , but no loss there ) . handling is great too.

Id highly recommend it matey

go sportline, -50mm just my preference! You have to slow down more for speed bumps! and the handling a toot after! If you wana go lower get some cobra coilover you can get as low as -80mm the stilo has big arches and is a tank!

Would i need to tell my insurance company if i did put lower springs on? I ask because i already pay an outrageous amount of money on car insurance, and i cant bare to pay them any more.

It really depends on your insurance policy as to whether they care about things like lowering. I guess the question is, are you willing to take the chance on them invalidating your policy if you have an accident and you being an uninsured driver... it's not a pretty prospect, for you or the other party

Give your insurance broker a call (or check online) and ask what their position is on replacement springs etc. They'll either not care, or deem it a higher risk due to it being more desirable to tea-leaves.

Definitely agree

Point to remember is that most insurance companies know about the spring failure issue on the Stilo and therefore look favorably at anyone who changes them before they break.

On the other hand if you don't tell them then you could easily find your insurance is void

So if im to buy a new standard one, am i best going through Fiat? Or could i buy one from anywhere?

Have a look on Shop4parts, they've got coil springs for the Stilo on there which should do you nicely

Also, best to do it as a pair as well...

Fiat might even do it for free When mine went I rang customer services at fiat and they contacted my local dealer to tell them to do it for free. Not all dealers will do it though as it is discretionary.

I think that someone said that around 90% of spring breakages are paid for in full by FIAT depending on mileage.
