Ok first of all, bear with me, im a little tipsy at the moment.

Earlier this evening (when sober) i noticed when at some traffic lights, if i revved the car, the brake lights come on. Subsequently pressing the gas pedal quickly, turns on the brake lights.

Hmmm.... bad earth?

Me-thinks not.

I had a replacement brake light switch done in the early days of owning my car as the lights stuck on, and since then it has been sensative... ie comming on with a feather touch.

No i notice its about to start sticking perminantly again as pressing the brakes puts the lights on but not every time they go off.

Tried to read the guide but my heads not working properly at the moment, even when sober!

Does this sound like something that can be adjusted out of the switch, or is the switch buggered and needs replacing?

Switch just needs adjusting.
Strong coffee first then, with some long nosed pliers at the ready, push the brake pedal down, then grip the brake switch plunger and pull it out (down) further, (you may feel the ratchet mechanism), then carefully allow the pedal up again without pulling it up

Test by raising your rear hatch so you can see the hi level lights and see where and when the lights come on now.

well just got in from doing this and i think its solved

was just an adjustment, (although i broke the retaining plastic clip things to hold the trim on thats over the pedals). tried it before fiddling with it and revved and brakes come on, press brake, release slowley, they stuck on.

Pulled the pin out using fingers only and it seems to have fettled it.

Cheers decks

Excellent.Throw away the over foot panel,it's just a nuisance, you'll probably hear the indicators better now too as that's where the noise comes from. They often interfere with the movement of the clutch pedal too. Mine was discarded years ago

That panel fell on my feet 10mins after picking the car up, wasnt a good start  I managed to bolt it back up there, just in case it was important, wasnt quite sure. I shall take it off now (y)

does that cover just clip off? i've to re-adjust my brake switch as well. i had just picked up the car (private sale) and my friend driving behind me rang me to ask why i was holding my foot on the brake and not to be so cautious. i was very confused as i wasnt pressing the brake peddle at all. but now thanks to the fiat forum, hopefully i will avoid a hefty dealership bill.

the cover comes of easily.

each clip/pin thing needs to have the centre pushed through so it will unclip.

I forgot this and went at it like a bull in china shop and snapped every collar so i need new ones to put it back.

However i decided to skip it as my size 12s fit better now
