Please if you can help I replaced the rear pads and discs on my Stilo 2.4 arbarth as described on the forum but they are now sticking a local garage say I should replace the calipers (ouch) or have I done something wrong. Wound them back using a G clamp and an angle grinder tool but they are very tight? Any advice would be more than welcome petrol consumption is dropping fast:cry::cry::bang:

Hi thanks for the replies they are sticking with both all the time as if not wound back enough but I cant seem to wind them back any further? Perhaps I can try the cleaning and greasing? I now agree about the disc's but took recommendation from garage

As I expect you've read many times whilst searching - it really is a lot easier with the proper Fiat Wind Back Tool (only about £15-£20 too).

It seems rather odd you've got the identical problem on both sides. Quite honestly, if the rubber seals (around piston) are still good then I can't see lack of lubrication being a problem.

It's not critical to adjust the handbrake adjuster although obviously it must be OFF (it auto adjusts once new pads are in place). You should be able to pull up the lever several times before it adjusts properly and I'd recommend doing this before using the foot pedal. This is because the handbrake winds the pistons in whilst the foot pedal just pushes them in

That said, I can't imagine anyone being able to wind the pistons back if the handbrake was even lightly on

Thanks again to all. I have tried to order the wind back tool from a Fiat dealer in West Yorkshire only to be told it would not be delivered until mid April
:yuck:
I can't wait that long if anybody knows of an alterative please lt me know also is there a way to reset the service light as I had it serviced at a local garage and they could not manage it
Thanks
