Front pipe is Wealded to the cat (badly) so if yours has come away then it is easier to get it wealded back on propely, should only take a couple of hours labour. If you are replacing it with a stailess piece or upgrading somehow then it should be asy enough to remove the weald as it should be done with a very light weight material (apparenly to keep the weight of the car down:confused:) So a bit more i9nfo would be needed to answer your q properly.

Thanks for links PNL. Car to go in for big service soon so was preparing for the worst. At last checkover - during service-all was ok but we are another 12k on from then now. Will post again on situation when have further info.

Very bad design that on the 1.2

But different on the 1.6 as the front pipe does bolt upto the cat as shown in this diagram

I think you have those Diagrams the wrong way round  you can see that you have a smaller manifold on what is supposed to be the 1.6 and my exhaust on my 1.6 was exactly as show in what you have directed for the 1.2. Dont you remeber that it was the weald that went on the front of mine there was no bolts whatsoever. You dont think sumbody could have bodged the wrong Pront pipe before i got the car do you

The diagrams are as stated and not the wrong way round .. I dont make that kind of mistake .. check for your self if you dont believe me ..eper is free for all on here and as far a anyone bogding a fix well anythings possible :)
