I was offered the opportunity by GSR/Red Dot Racing to rolling road my standard 1.8 Stilo, fit their own induction kit, then rolling road it again. TBH I didn't know much about them and was sceptical at first but was told that if there was no power increase or i didn't like it, it would be taken off and the Rolling Road tests would be free of charge. Now understanding all rolling roads are different, the tests would give rough figures for the original and after BHP readings but the difference made by the induction kit itself would be spot on. I went down today with a few mates and met Peter the guy I was liasing with and we were there the entire time as they completed the work. The car was put on the rig and the first run gave a reading of 139 BHP! Knowing that it is stated as 133 BHP I knew this was high so they did it again straight away and produced the same 139.6 BHP. TBF it was a very cold day and the engine was loving it but still, 139 BHP?!? Next the kit was put on, they left it on the rolling road for this so it would definately be set up the same, taking out the air boxes was a mission to say the least but the kit developed originally for the same Punto HGT engine fitted in fine. They then ran the test again, and it gave 145 BHP! The car was run again and it gave 149.4 BHP! The engine's got to learn the new set up and so will adjust better as time goes on but prob won't improve much more. Now even if the BHP values are optimistic, the gain is for definite, that's 10 BHP! Not only that but on the drive home, we dropped one of my mates off and drove past to see what it sounds like and under load it has a wicked growl! It's fairly subtle but it's noticeable enough to know there's an induction kit there. I've got the print outs from both before and after the kit and couldn't recommend the service peter and Augusto gave me more highly. They specialise in italian cars and we met a guy while we were there in the process of properly tuning his Alfa 147 GTA. Peter was helping with that aswell. The guy had had a barchetta in the past and was an italian fan. Again thanks to Peter at GSR known on here as "oldschool" and i'd advise him as an alternative to the BMC, K & N etc induction kits already on the market. I'm sure if anyone was interested he'd get a price list up but as mine was a special agreement we settled differently i'm not sure what he'd charge.
