Is the service internal based on the mileage or time interval?

I'd assumed that it was on the mileage, but when I got in my car this morning it announced that the service was due in 30 days, even though I've still got another 6000 miles to go.

As far as I am aware the servicing is based on 12000 mile/1 yr intervals and you have 1000 mile/30 day grace period before it starts to affect your warranty

The service is due on 12,000 miles or 12 months, whatever comes sooner. If you were to hit say 11,000 in 5 months it would say service due then.
