Recently bought a 1.6 Dynamic 52 plate, 14000 on clock. the origional owner didnt get service book stamped (idle git) but it does have the 12000ml stamp.
My problem is , it looks like the air con has gone tits up.
I will take it to a fiat main dealer to sort out. (I bought it from a normal dealer) will they fix the air con gratis, or am I doomed?????
Compressor fuse f19 ok , fan ok, looks like there has been a leak somewhere.
Dont flame me if there is a faq area, I have just come in off nights and found this site.

Welcome to the forums mate.

If I were you I'd go to your local FIAT dealer and explain what you've said above, if they are a decent dealership I can't see why they wouldn't honour the warranty.

Mind you, if it was stamped at 12,000 and it's only covered 2000 miles since there shouldn't be a problem.

TC. :D

Hi
I bought mine from a non fiat dealer without the handbook or service record. I got the selling dealer to pay the £27 warranty tranfer fee and have had no problems with my local fiat dealer. I even got a new service book etc. If the car was serviced at 12000 by a fiat dealer it should be on their computer, mine was.
Hope this helps

I had a concern like this when I bought my car. The fist service was done 6 weeks after it was due (normally only get 1 month grace). I paid a £23.50 admin fee direct to Fiat (dealers may charge you £27 though). You can call Fiat directly and speak to their warranty department and they will send you the form if you wish and fill it in and send it away (or the dealer can give you one.)

If there is a warranty breach for they make you pay a further £60 they told me and get it serviced (that’s assuming it hasn’t been serviced though) but as you say it has the 12,000 service you would be OK here. My dealer told me that they will not volunteer any information to Fiat but if Fiat asks they will need to tell them the truth. However, I don’t think you’ll have a problem here. In my experience of warranty claims the dealer never asks to see the service records and Fiat UK do not hold a record of when every car is serviced and has it been done to correct standards (they can’t as it would be an admin nightmare as you are allowed to use non Fiat garages and anyway I’ve asked them and they said they don’t). Therefore Fiat relies totally on the dealer to check this side of things. In my experience dealers are customer friendly this way and don’t ask to see your service book.

If I were you (this is what I done) I would go down to the dealer and say that you’ve just bought the car and you want to use their garage for all your servicing needs going forward (just tell them this and decide later) but you understand that you need to change the warranty into your name and pay the £23.5 – £27 fee (whatever they charge I done it myself but maybe get the garage to do it). Then say look I need to do this as I have a warranty claim can do the claim for me. Dealers love warranty claims as it’s free work for them paid by Fiat. I think you’ll find they are sympathetic.

Hope this helps

Just a thought, when they did the service for the previous owner, did they re set the service clock? If they did, it would be further proof that it had indeed been serviced by a fiat dealer.

Nuthin' fancy ! Red Stilo 02 5 door. Blue Punto 02 3 door.

Unsure on that one not very techie, tried reading manual on how to use the digithing, (never had a car this new before) I'll have to have a play with it. and see what I can bugger up :I

I bought my Stilo second hand about a year ago it had done 14000mls. I bought it from a Citreon dealer who said they would service it as it had not been serviced, they only changed the oil and filter and ticked that section of the service book. I got the car serviced at 24000mls within the Fiat 1 month 1000 mile limitation, but the service was carried out by an independant dealer. I did somewhat belatedly get the warranty transfered, but for some time I was having warranty repairs carried out under the previous owners name as far as Fiat were concerned.

I am now into the third year dealer warranty, I have never had a problem with warranty work and I am sure that my dealer has never looked at the service book.

I believe warranty work is a fair proportion of a dealer's turnover and the dealer is more than happy to do it.
