I just think it would be like you're trying to be something you're not, and no, I am not saying the Stilo is a bad car etc. it's just it's the sort of thing a chav would do to make himself think he looked cool, on a 1.0 nova it's one thing, but on a beautifl JTD stilo, it's just plain wrong!

(IMO)

and no, it wouldn't look bad, it would just look like what I have said above.

i'm not trying to be anything!! I drive a jtd and i love the car!! i don't like BMW's. The Stilo is in a class of it's own and is possibly the most beautifully styled car i've seen for quite a number of years. Apart from the 5 door which is a pile of ****!!!!! I just think the aerial is too big, maybe i'll just get a shorter one!!

I thought the shark fin aerial was for DAB radio or GPS navigation system. The aerial is often a certain length for optimum reception. i tried a bee sting aerial and reception was poor, went back to the original.

Thanks for the advice SHC

You say the bee sting aerial gave poor reception, this means poor radio reception or did it affect the sat nav??

No,just the radio. I have a different Sat Nav to the standard anyway so I wouldnt know if changing the aeriel on a car with the Fiat system would make a difference to both the radio and the sat nav, allthough I suspect it would.

I think the shark fin is for sat nav...

Different length aeriels are necessary due to the wavelengths they pick up and it is usually specific to the device what length they have for the best all-round reception.

D stilo: You and I know that, but what might others think when they see a stilo with a shark fin on? That's the point I am trying to get accross...

I personally think that an arial like that would look quite cool on a stilo to be honest, but yeah your all right its for the sat nav and car phones as if all beamers are like my dads the arial for the radio is built into the rear window.

2002 Stilo 1.6 Active, almost debadged and i have big plans!!!

Don't do it (I mean, do if you really want to - it's your motor) but try not to....

i haven't done it yet, i still think it would look good, just not sure about the effect on the Sat Nav?? The only mod i've made was to debadge, everything else is standard

Beware - the aerial on Stilos that have SatNav+ are triple function - Radio, GSM Phone, and GPS antenae combined. Replacing it with an aerial with different electrical characteristics is in IMHO likely to not not work!
