thought i would put this in the styling section as i popped into swinton the other day to see if having the K&N 57i induction kit put on would affect my insurance.
they said i would not be covered as churchil will not insure a car with any non standard parts.

so to the question!!

who is good to go with including price , service and level of protection (protected no claims , excess , etc).

stilo 1.6 dynamic , 16" alloys , 5 disc cd changer and a vanilla foot!

Have to agree DOG, esure have been very good on prices for me and the only company i've been with that my premium actually fell and didnt rise at renewal :p

also try esure's sister compant First Alternative http://www.firstalternative.co.uk/

swinton got back to me today , they said they have found an insurer with a more relaxed approach to mods and its only an extra £300 a year...........yes thats right you aint got double vison that really does say £300 quid!

you would think being 30 , with 6 years no claims i could get insurance for less than 750 nicker?

the shop around starts here!

p.s. the k&n will stay in the box until i can get insurance sorted so dont get stressy james!:D

Try elephant.com, they were happy to accept my mods, my original quote was £217 fully comp with protected no claims, I told them about all my mods and it only went up to £251. (my policy is actually underwritten by Admiral)

Not bad, I'm 33 with 8 years no claims by the way.

esure is a no go as they state u cant have mods (unless they will quote for that by phone).

does having a thatham alarm make a lot of differance as the toad overlay (works with immobiliser)is only £220.

I'm with admiral, I'm 24 with 4 years no claims and 3 point just off my license. I'm just over £300 IIRC thats with my better half on the policy too.
Give them a try.

I pay £230 with protected NCD with Direct Line for the Stilo. Had an accident in my wife's punto a few weeks ago and it was a total write off. Got paid out within 7 days without hassle. I thought the service from Direct Line was as good as it gets. We got back 700 more than we paid for it a year ago !

Nuthin' fancy ! Red Stilo 02 5 door. Blue Punto 02 3 door.

Try Privilege, my Stilo was £200 a year fully comp, works out to £19 a month(I'm 27 with full NCD), my brother (23) got his Rover 620ti insured for £800.
Give them a try they're pretty good.

it looks like endsleigh are the best so far 600 quid with 5 mods , better than swintons latest quote of £830.

you must try esure. my renewal for an abarth selespeed £275 fully comp. oh and i hate to admit it but im 45. eek[:0]

You're old, so you should pay loads more! :)

They always say that insurance gets cheaper as you get older, but as I reach every milestone i.e 21, 30 etc, it never seems to get any cheaper. I'm 34, with Tesco with 6 years full no claims and I paid £450 with all the usual trimmings (protect NCD, replacement car, legal). I guess it's a reasonable price, but your £275 got me slightly miffed.

Perhaps next time I'll do like an ever increasing number of UK drivers and just not bother with insurance and pay (if I can be bothered) the piffling fine if I get caught.

oi that hurt. i still have the mind of a 20 year old if that counts. but you are right about the penalty for driving without insurance, should be a ban at least. if everyone insured there car, premiums would fall by about 20%.
